 ICAC Undercover Chat Investigations

The ICAC Undercover Chat Investigations course provides experienced investigators with the latest tools and techniques necessary to combat online child exploitation. This program includes a combination of online activities utilizing hands-on computer instruction and presentations by ICAC subject matter experts who routinely investigate and prosecute some of the nation's most complex and high-profile cases.

Conference setting   
Course Objectives: At the conclusion of this course, students will have the knowledge to:
  • Establish an undercover identity,
  • Understand chat tips and techniques,
  • Respond to and investigate online ads,
  • Preserve online evidence; and
  • Utilize mobile devices and applications in an undercover capacity.
Pre-Requisite(s): None

Eligibility: This training is open to state, local and Federal law enforcement. State and local agencies must be a member or affiliate of a Regional ICAC Task Force.

Course Length: 4 1/2 days

Technical Level: Intermediate; minimally attendees should have a basic understanding of navigation in Windows and file manipulation.
