AMBER Alert Assessment in Action     Protecting our Children
    Medford, Oregon
Staff at the Jackson County Sheriff's Office in Medford, Oregon requested multiple AMBER Alert training programs through NCJTC in order to achieve their goal of Child Abduction Response Team (CART) certification. A detailed assessment by NCJTC revealed what was inhibiting the agency from reaching their goal and highlighted the unique difference in training needed for a number of recently hired patrol officers as opposed to those in command operational roles.

A recommended two-phase training plan specific to Jackson County was implemented, turning an overwhelming task list into a manageable schedule of training. The training gained national media attention and allowed Jackson County staff to focus on their ultimate goal of gaining CART certification.

  Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan
In order to effectively develop their community needs assessment and tribal action plan, the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians sought NCJTC's assistance in conducting community forums and service-provider focus groups.

Through onsite meetings with NCJTC staff, the tribal action plan advisory committee gained valuable facilitation experience, created a template for gathering data, and achieved the skills and confidence needed to support their assessment process and development of their tribal action plan.
